![]() Everyone is looking for an alternate source of income right? Something that could be run on the side whilst still keeping your primary income source. Times are difficult and people are having to work longer and harder just to stay ahead of the game. And most people are not succeeding. So that begs the question, what can I do that would predictably generate serious income, is relatively risk free and flexible enough to run alongside my current job or business and will not take away from my current job or business? Well, I believe the answer is Network Marketing. Now Network marketing often gets a bad rap yet there are people who make seriously good living exclusively from this industry. And not just a few lucky ones. All over the world there are many many people who have completely changed their circumstances for the better using this industry. So why aren't more people involved? Why do you still, in the 21st century, get people who say the concept doesn't work? I think it is because they simply don't know and have never given themselves an opportunity to find out. Now I could sit here and tell you about people I know who live lives of joy, leisure and success because of the network marketing industry and I could give you examples of how these systems are so predictable. I could do a great many things but I won't. Instead I am going to walk you through a bit of a due diligence type process and let you make up your own mind. I am going to show you in pure business terms why this is a business model that should be taken very very seriously by anyone who is dissatisfied by their current financial situation. There is a publication called the Dow Theory Letters published since 1958 by Richard Russell until his death in 2015. Russell was a well respected and sought after investor and an acknowledged contributor to business lore. The most common question Russell would be asked concerned his idea of what constitutes the perfect or ideal business. First published by Russell in the early 1970's and republished a few times over the years, Russell's essay on the perfect business has become the ideal. There are 12 points to Russell's essay and I am going to discuss 10 of them regarding their relevance to the network marketing industry. 1. The ideal business should sell to the world. It has an unlimited global market. Well, all the most well established and successful network marketing companies operate in most countries on the planet. And there is generally no restriction as to how many countries one may have a presence in. So you can own and operate a business that is open in multiple countries and allows you multiple income streams in multiple currency baskets. 2. The ideal business offers a product that enjoys inelastic demand. In other words people will be using the products no matter what the economic situation happens to be both in their country and in their home. The products available through most network marketing companies are your everyday type of thing and you will continue to use them no matter what. Basic personal and home care, laundry products, wellness and skin care, cellular and insurance products. The list goes on and on. Inelastic demand. 3. The ideal business has minimal or no labour requirements. The concept of the virtual corporation comes to mind here. The whole idea behind network marketing as far as this point is concerned is the fact that you operate business by yourself. You do not employ people. All you do is help other people duplicate what you do. 4. The ideal business enjoys low overhead. A network marketing business you run from home and your overheads are usually limited to gas for your car, a phone bill and a minimal amount of training material. In South Africa, to develop substantial income from a network marketing system should not cost more than a few thousand dollars - a year. If you compare that to the cost of running any other business is almost sounds like a joke. 5. The ideal business does not require big cash outlays. To start up in the network marketing industry would typically cost you less than the stationary requirements for any other business you may choose to start. 6. The idea business doesn't tie up your capital with lengthy or complex credit terms. Network marketing is a pay for product type of industry where all the R&D and logistics are handled not by you. No capital at all. 7. The ideal business is free of most government and industry regulations. Well, the majority of the legislation surrounding network marketing concerns import and export which should not really apply to you as in your business. 8. The ideal business is portable - easily. A network marketing business exists wherever you happen to be at the time. You don't much more portable than that. 9. The ideal business satisfies your intellectual needs. Most of these companies have a well developed support system that will teach you and help you grow both as a person and as a business person. 10. The ideal business leaves you with increasing amounts of free time. The main design concept in the design of successful network marketing systems is residual style income that is developed through the system leaving you with an asset that requires very much less than full time attention. So the next time you encounter a proposition concerning the industry called network marketing, due an effective due diligence as you would before starting any other business - you may well find that this thing is far far bigger than you ever thought it was.
